Our learning this week: We learned about the sounds 'ai' and 'ay'. We learned that they both say "a" (like the letter A). We also learned that 'ai' is usually in the beginning or middle of words (like tail and aim), while 'ay' is at the end of words (like stay and play). We learned about Groundhog Day! We drew a groundhog, learned about what it means if the groundhog sees his shadow, and wrote our predictions for what we think would happen. Then we watched as Punxatawny Phil saw his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter. We learned about new subtraction strategies such as making a model, using a number bond, and using a number line.  We engaged in new math centres, with a Valentine's theme! We learned about different ways that objects can move, such as rolling, bouncing, swinging, rotating, and sliding.
