May 25-29, 2026

Our learning this week:

  • We learned about consonant + le words such as bubble, giggle, table. We learned to look for the "le", jump back one, and split in the middle! This helped us learn more about open and closed syllables!
  • We finished our goose research project! This week we focused on their diet and habitat. Ask me about my project and what I learned!
  • We continued our science centres and exploration about sunflowers.
  • We learned about harmful substances and to ask a trusted adult before we touch things or eat things.
  • We explored different environments in Alberta such as rivers, lakes, mountains, prairies, and wetlands.
  • We compared what our gosling and ducklings needed (food, air, water, shelter) to what our sunflowers needed (soil, air, space, sunlight, water). We also drew and labeled a sunflower.

URGENT: Casino Fundraiser Volunteers Needed – June 4 & 5

Our upcoming Casino Fundraiser on June 4 and 5 is critical to our school. This single event will raise over $70,000—but we cannot make it happen without more parent volunteers.

➡️ If we don’t fill the required volunteer positions, we risk losing this entire $70,000 funding opportunity.

This funding directly supports our students over the next three years, including:

Buses for field trips (2026–2029)
Field trips themselves (2026–2029)
An Inline Skating residency (2026–2027)
Dance and art residencies (2027–2029)
Robots and coding resources
PE and Music equipment
Literacy and numeracy games
These opportunities will not happen without this funding.

✅ NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED — training is provided.

We still need many more volunteers to make this fundraiser possible. Please consider signing up for a shift—your time makes a direct and lasting impact on every student in our school.

👉 Please sign up today using the QR code below or by clicking HERE. We truly cannot do this without you.

🌼 VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION TEA INVITATION ☕

We are so grateful for the many ways our families have supported our school community this year! If you helped in classrooms, joined field trips, organized events, or lent a hand behind the scenes, your time and energy made a meaningful difference for our students and staff.

To show our appreciation, we invite all of our wonderful volunteers to a Volunteer Appreciation Tea:

📅 Date: Friday, June 12
⏰ Time: 9:15 am
📍 Location: NLS gym

RRSP: Email mlbrinson@cbe.ab.ca to let us know if you are coming or not

Please join us for a relaxed gathering with tea, coffee, juice, fruit, and treats as we celebrate you and the incredible impact you’ve had on our school. This is a small token of our thanks, and a chance to connect and reflect on the year together.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without your support. Thank you for being such an important part of our school family - we hope to see you there!
