April 13-17, 2026
Our learning this week:
- We got our goose eggs this week! Mrs. Nakaska and Ms. Li set them up on Monday morning. We have been observing the eggs in the incubator. We learned it is important to be gentle and careful around the eggs to make sure they are safe! Our responsibilities are to mist the eggs to keep it humid and moist, and to candle the eggs to ensure the babies are growing inside!
- We learned about suffixes in phonics this week. We focused on the ending -s. We read words with the -s suffix in two different ways:
- -s at the end of words to make it plural like changing cat to cats.
- -s at the end of verbs (action words) to make it mean that it is happening right now.
- -es a tthe end of words and verbs that end in x, z, s, ch, and sh.
- We focused on sensory writing this week. We started the week by brainstorming the way that items feel, look, sound, smell, or taste like. Then we began practicing in our own writing books with different pictures. First, we labeled the picture with different sensory words. Next, we wrote a sentence about that thing.
- We used our knowledge of sensory words and read a book called "The Best Part of Me". This is a book written by other kids about their favourite parts of themselves. We brainstormed our favourite parts of ourselves and wrote sentences about that! Ask me what I wrote about as the best part of me!
- We learned more about distance. We used Google Earth to observe things that are near our school and far away from our school!
- In Math, we are now reviewing our addition strategies. We will be playing different addition games and practicing how to be efficient with our addition. Please continue to practice addition questions at home (you can do addition questions that add up to 20!).
- We have been focusing on goods and services in Social Studies. We are using our knowledge to create our own classroom town! We brainstormed different goods and services we will need in our town. We created shop signs and posters for what we will be selling as a good or providing as a service. We had so much fun exploring goods and services with some play-based exploration this week! Ask me all about it!

CELEBRATING EARTH DAY
Earth Day is a special time to celebrate our beautiful planet and learn how we can take care of it every day. At school, students are exploring ways to reduce waste, save energy, and show kindness to the Earth. We invite families to continue these conversations at home—small actions can make a big difference!
